The belt-mounted version of the Chin-Type Mask allows the wearer to mount the chin-strap canister on a support belt. This shifts the weight of the canister to the hip, providing greater comform for some wearers. It also is recommended for welding or grinding operations, as the canister can be positioned away from sparks or molten metal, An optional spark cover is available to protect canister from spark damage.

Principles of Operation: Upon inhalation, contaminated air enters the gas mask canister, where it is filtered before reaching the wearer, who breathes in only clean, fresh air.

Approvals & Standards: The MSA Chin-Type gas mask has been certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The specific numbers are shown under ordering information for each mask type.

Provides respiratory protection against particulate matter, vapors and gases by means of a lightweight, replaceable canister. The small, oval-shaped aluminum canister and facepiece are designed to permit downward head movement. This comfortable, lightweight model is an alternative to the heavier models and is designed for respiratory protection against a specific gas or group of gases as indicated by canister identification. The gas mask assembly has the following Maximum Use Conditions: Entry - 100% the Permissible Exposure Level; do not exceed the Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) concentration. Escape - contaminant concentrations up to the maximum use concentration of the gas mask (generally 5,000 ppm (0.5%) by volume; see canister selection chart for details), providing there is adequate oxygen (19.5% by volume) to support life. At these upper use conditions, the service time may be as short as 12 minutes. Also available as a belt-mounted version which allows the wearer to attach the canister to a belt clip and uses a corrugated breathing tube to connect the canister to the facepiece.

Approvals & Standards: Requiring only routine filter replacement, the Ultra Elite twin-cartridge respirator is approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for use against a variety of respiratory hazards. The demand version of the Ultra Elite facepiece can be used as a twin-cartridge air-purifying respirator for full-face respiratory protection. The unique lens design provides a high level of peripheral and downward vision. It is available in three sizes and has large adjustment tabs that simplify wear. A choice of two facepiece materials - SoftFeel Hycar rubber or silicone - enhance wearer comfort. For improved communication, a speaking diaphragm in front of the wearer's mouth ensures clear short-range communications. A nosecup reduces lens fogging.

NOTE: Ultra Elite facepieces must be fitted with a twin-cartridge adapter if used as a twin-cartridge respirator.
