HOW IT WORKS:
The Sentry PLS head assembly consits of an alumimum capstan/roller drum mounted on an aluminum backing plate with a built-in anti reverse spin lock. The drum rides on a 3/4" carrying bolt and is supported on ball bearings. The Sentry "PLS" must be used with Gemtor approved 3/4" diameter kernmantel rope which is wrapped 2 1/2 times around the roller drum. The supplied rope has a breaking strength of 5500 lbs. is decay and rot resistent, and has a melitng point of 480 degrees F (progressive strength loss above 300 degrees F).

When an object is being lifted/raised the rope drum free wheels (counter-clockwise) which releases the braking action. By adding roller pulleys to the system on the load side we create a block'n tackle type set-up. The 90% friction brake is automaticaaly reactivated whenever the operator stops pulling on the free side rope hard enough to make the drum turn.

ROPE CONTROL/STOP HANDLE:
The rope control/stop handle is a specially designed, oversized, extruded aluminum handled ascender that can be used while wearing gloves. The handle attaches to the free side rope and perform the following functions: It is used as a rope grip for lifting the load suspended with the Sentry "PLS", as a tie-off handle to hole the load stationary and it prevents accidental decent of the load in the case that the free side rope is inadvertently released. The handle has a spring loaded "rope release lever" featuring rounded protruding teeth which provide a positive grip on the free side rope. Manual opening of the rope release lever allows the rope to pass through the rope release lever allows the rope to pass through the rope travel guide housing, but once the rope release lever is released, the handle grabs the free side rope and prevents additional decent. The handle securing lanyard is attached to the handle on one end and to the system operator's harness on the other end using the supplied carabiner or snaphook.
