HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIAN TRAINING
40 Hour Training Program
The 40-hour program covers the identification of hazards and minimum of risks by way of engineering controls, work practices, personal protective equipment (levels D thru A), basics of toxicology, air monitoring and decontamination. Participants will use protective equipment, airline systems, self-contained breathing apparatuses, and air-purifying respirators during practical exercises. Students explore worker health and safety rights, learn to read and interpret a site safety plan and the basics of confined-space. This course meets the requirements of Federal OSHA Regulator 29 CFR 1910.120.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SUPERVISOR TRAINING
8-Hour Supervisor Training Program
In additional to the 40 hours of initial health and saftey instruction for all employees involved in hazardous waste operations, OSHA requires at least 8 hours of specialized training for supervisors. This course satisfies OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910.120. Students gain knowledge in: management of personal protective equipment programs; development of health and safety plans; supervisory skills, including management style and effective communication. Other topics include: respiratory protection programs, confined space entry regulations and medical surveillance programs.
Prerequisite: 24 or 40 hour Safety/HAZWOPER training within the last 12 months.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REFRESHER TRAINING
8-Hour Refresher Training Program
This 8-hour program fulfills the refresher requirements for hazardous waste site workers engaged in remedial activities as described in 29 CRF 1910.120. This refresher program meets the requirements for both the 24-hour and 40-hour safety training programs.
Prerequisite: HAZMAT Materials Awareness
